The Montreal airport fuel terminal is located on two sites managed by the Montreal Port Authority, right at the centre of an area dedicated to petroleum-product loading terminals.
Facilities include:
- A marine terminal with a transshipment dock and eight storage tanks that will be built in phase 2 (Site 1);
- A tank wagon and tanker truck loading facility (Site 2);
- A pipeline between Sites 1 and 2.
The pipeline connecting Site 1 to the existing Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. (TNPI) line—which already supplies Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport with Jet A and Jet A‑1 fuel from Montréal-Est—has not yet been built. The approved route is authorized under a ministerial order.
At the end of the first construction phase, the Montréal airport fuel terminal will have five storage tanks. If demand increases, the ministerial order will grant MIFFC permission to build up to eight tanks, for a total storage capacity of 160 million litres of jet fuel.
